North Point has many ministry partnerships, both local and global. Last week we heard from the South Africa Ministry Partnership. Below is more information about their program.
The Mealie Meal distribution program meets the very basic nutritional needs for approximately 600 people in the three churches, Maranatha, Klipkop and Boiketlong. The after-school meal program provides food two days a week at the Klipkop Drop-in Center for approximately 300 orphans and vulnerable kids. These are basic programs but they make a huge difference in the lives of those served.
When asked what they would hope to see happen with these programs, our champions on the ground in South Africa told us they would like to expand the current program:
  • By adding 30 families to the monthly mealie meal distribution ( approx. 750 people).
  • By increasing the size of the mealie meal parcel from 10KG to 12.5- or for 22 lbs to 27.5.
  • By adding a small package of sugar
  • By increasing the after-school meals from 2 to 3 days a week
And extending both programs to 14 months through June 30, 2023
We serve 300 children three times a week, four weeks a month and 750 individuals with Mealie Meal, we are providing basic nutrition for 1,050 people a month, 12,600 a year. That breaks down to $2.25 a month per person!
Bob Pierce, the founder of World Vision once said, “Don’t fail to do something just because you can’t do everything.”
